Although Jean Lotz has worked with many popular
dollmaking materials, Jean is best known for her wooden
dolls. Jean enjoys the constructive yet destructive
quality about the wood carving process that is totally
unique and very addictive. "The artistry is in the
wood" no matter if the resultant sculpture is left
natural or painted.
 |
Jean primarily creates one-of-a-kind original
dolls, but Jean also regularly creates a
reproduction of Hitty. Jean's Lotz
Studio "Lotzalove" Hitty is available
in either white ash or basswood.
|
Jean Lotz creates each doll herself from head to toe.
She designs each doll, all costumes and accessories. Then
she sculpts, paints, makes each pattern, sews, and/or
embroiders as needed to create a doll she would be proud to
keep in her own collection.
Jean created her first dolls and marionettes in the late
60's for her own enjoyment and as gifts for family children.
Jean seriously started sculpting dolls again in 1994 and 1995 using only the finest, long-lasting materials. She creates very few dolls per year while working primarily in wood. Jean Lotz was awarded
ODACA Artist Membership in August 1998 but shifted to INACTIVE STATUS in 2009.

News for 2010
I am trying to get back to work after several serious set backs. Look for new dolls on Ebay.
Sorry, I do not have any doll shows planned in 2010. Please look for my dolls on Ebay and save "lotzstudio" as one of your favorite sellers.
